I have been an art educator for 12 years. I obtained my BA in art education in 2005 and my California teaching credential in 2006 both from CSUF.  I started teaching photography at Kennedy High School fall of 2006. The photography program was traditional black and white film photography. Over the course of teaching I started to make the program a hybrid of traditional film and digital photography. In 2013 I was transferred to Western High School another school site within my district. At Western High School I taught 3-D Design and Ceramics.  As the ceramics program became more popular I stopped teaching 3-D design and taught ceramics exclusively. I started a masters program in Art Education at Boston University in 2014 and completed my masters degree in 2016. From 2017 - 2018 I worked with Persons as a CalTPA assessor. As an assessor I helped Persons calibrate the new TPA for California Student teachers completing their teaching credential. Having taught in California public schools for 12 years I started to look for a new challenge to improve my teaching skills. This lead me to accepting my current position at Pegasus California School in Qingdao, China. My first year at Pegasus (2018-2019) I was the schools dormitory director. In this position I learned many new skills and worked with students in a different capacity.  As dorm director my job was to implement and maintain school dorm policy and procedures. Maintain communication about students dorm life with parents. Work with administration to implement and solve dorm problems Complete yearly review of dorm staff performance (KPI) Create dorm staff schedules.
Work with school nurses maintaining communication between student, parents and school staff. For the 2019 - 2020 school year I will once again teach are. I will be teaching ceramics and digital photography. I am looking forward to returning to the classroom and working with the students at Pegasus as an art teacher.
